FINAL EXAM WEEK SUPPORT: Extended Library Hours, Free Coffee, and Snacks

For the past year, the University Library-Learning Commons of Southern Leyte State University has embraced a heartwarming tradition of extending library hours with complimentary coffee and snacks to support students during their final exams. This initiative has become a much-anticipated event, marking the end of every semester with a gesture of care and encouragement for the Mighty Kingfishers of SLSU Main Campus.
The latest installment of this activity was held from December 9 to December 14, 2024, with the unwavering support of generous donors. The week-long event aimed to create a conducive study environment while fostering a sense of community among students.
On the first day, December 9, 2024, the Library doors opened at 7:00 AM, welcoming students with trays of fresh, hot pandesal and an assortment of caffeinated and non-caffeinated drinks. By 5:00 PM, students enjoyed an array of biscuits, ranging from plain to sweet, some accompanied by spreads. A water heater was provided to ensure a steady supply of hot water for beverages. Extended library hours, which ran until 6:30 PM, gave students ample time to focus on their studies in a quiet and comfortable setting.
The activity concluded on Saturday, December 14, 2024, extending the opportunity to graduate school students who were able to enjoy the same benefits before the Christmas vacation began.
The success of this initiative was made possible through the leadership of the Director of Learning Commons and Library Services, Ms. Geanrose Colonia, RL, MLIS, who expressed her gratitude for the University's support. She also acknowledged the invaluable contributions of the following donors:
