SLSU researchers present at the 5th ICMAR 2024, winning top awards
Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) researchers actively participated in and presented at the 5th International Conference on Methodological Advances in Research (ICMAR) 2024, held September 17-20, 2024. The conference was hosted by the Northeastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) in collaboration with the Visayas Mindanao Consortium for Journal Publications Inc. It was held in a hybrid format, conducted on-site and via Zoom online.
Among the 18 SLSU researchers who participated in the conference, Dr. Ludito V. Ramirez from SLSU-Main Campus, with his research titled "Mapping the Internationalization in Higher Education: A Bibliometric Analysis of Publications from 1974-2023" was awarded Best Paper and Best Presenter.
During the conference, SLSU’s homegrown researchers who presented their interdisciplinary expertise showcased the university's commitment to advancing research and sustainable development, and highlighted the university's mission in addressing pressing global and local issues.
These presenters included Dr. James Brian Flores, who presented papers on the Development and Evaluation of a Web-Based Real-Time ASF Monitoring System Using the ASF 1-7-10 Protocol for Effective Disease Management, and Development and Evaluation of a Web-Based Waste Management System with Automated Scheduling and SMS Alerts;
Mr. Mark Donald S. Oja, who studied the Impact of Audiovisual Learning Tools on Academic Performance of Grade 7 Science Students;
Dr. Ingrid M. Uy, who researched the Strategic Approach to Sustainable Tourism Development Using the A’WOT Hybrid Method: A Case Study of Southern Leyte Province, Philippines;
Dr. Marie Khul Langub, who presented a paper on Empowering Science Educators: A Dynamic Professional Development Program for Tech Integration with the Rat Model;
Dr. Eda J. Opina, who shared a study on Deconstructing Meaning: A Morphological Analysis of Content Words in Edith Tiempos Poems;
Dr. Mark B. Galdo, who presented a research titled Navigating the Filipino Education Curriculum in HEIs: Towards a Contextualized Pedagogical Model;
Ms. Ma. Jovillea T. Palanca, who discussed From Classroom to Career: Leveraging Metaphors to Teach and Apply Employability Competencies;
Ms. Amber Ghea P. Pablo, who researched Re-inventing tourism packages during the COVID-19 pandemic: A multi-case study from tourism sites in rural areas;
Mr. Virgilio L. Perez Jr., who presented a study on the Innovative Design and Performance Assessment of a Micro-Controller-Based Catch Mat Device for Improved Comfort Room Hygiene;
Mr. Rogen A. Cagorol, who assessed the Acceptability of a Microcontroller-Based Disinfecting Mat Device: A Comprehensive Evaluation;
Ms. Elmee Joy D. Oraiz, who presented a study on Persons with Disabilities in the Context of Disaster: Basis for a Disability-Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Program;
Juvenal F. Sumaya, who discussed the Level of Disaster Preparedness of Residents Living in Coastal Communities;
Magdaleno T. Samaco Jr., who presented his research on the Challenges of Lupong Tagapamayapa in Handling Community Mediation;
Aris Rex D. Espinas, who shared findings on Tulong Dunong Program - Tertiary Education Subsidy (TDP-TES) Grants: Its Effectiveness to the Academic Performance of SLSU-Maasin City Campus Students, Academic Year 2021-2022;
Mr. Rannie Sumacot, who assessed the Implementation of Person with Disability Program in the Local Government Unit of Maasin City; and,
Ms. Adel Grace P. Gaudicos, who presented her research on the Development and Usability of the ThermoBrain Mobile Application.
The 5th ICMAR 2024 conference provided an excellent platform for researchers to share their insights and findings, contributing to the advancement of knowledge and promoting sustainable development goals through research.
