Southern Leyte State University Hosts Writeshop on Bibliometric Analysis to Foster Research Excellence
Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) successfully conducted a Writeshop on Bibliometric Analysis on January 15, 2025, as part of its commitment to enhancing research productivity and fostering a culture of excellence in academic publications. Held virtually via Google Meet, the writeshop aimed to equip researchers and faculty with essential knowledge and skills in bibliometric analysis to further advance their research capabilities.
The program began with a Welcome Message from Dr. Francis Ann R. Sy, Vice-President for Research, Innovation, and Extension Services. Dr. Sy emphasized the importance of the workshop in advancing SLSU’s research culture and encouraged participants to maximize the learning opportunities.
An Inspirational Message was delivered by SLSU University President, Dr. Jude A. Duarte. Dr. Duarte expressed heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Don Eliseo Lucero-Prisno III, NRCP RD Leader, for his unwavering support and leadership in research and innovation. He commended Dr. Prisno’s significant role in guiding SLSU toward achieving greater milestones in research productivity.
In his Message of Support, Dr. Don Eliseo Lucero-Prisno III proudly announced that Southern Leyte State University ranked second in research production in Region 8 for 2024 according to GHF University Excellence. He praised the university’s dedication and the collective effort of its researchers, attributing their success to SLSU’s strong research initiatives and partnerships. Dr. Prisno’s inspiring words motivated participants to continue striving for excellence in their scholarly pursuits.
The core of the event was the Writeshop Proper, facilitated by Dr. Ludito V. Ramirez, Head of the JPMO and UREC of SLSU. The sessions provided participants with both foundational knowledge and practical skills, empowering them to enhance their research outputs.
After the lunch break, participants reconvened for the continuation of the writeshop, where Dr. Ramirez further deepened their understanding of bibliometric tools and strategies.
The program concluded with Engr. Khorina O. Aguilar, Director for Research and Innovation, presenting the Moving Forward Plan and Closing Message. Engr. Aguilar encouraged participants to apply their newfound knowledge in their research endeavors and reaffirmed SLSU’s commitment to strengthening research and innovation.
The Writeshop on Bibliometric Analysis not only highlighted SLSU’s dedication to advancing research excellence but also underscored its alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event specifically addressed Quality Education (SDG 4) by fostering a learning environment that enhances academic skills, Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9) by promoting research initiatives and innovation, and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17) by strengthening collaboration with key stakeholders.
