Southern Leyte State University Celebrates Academic Excellence as CHED RO8 Endorses 13 Programs for COPC
Southern Leyte State University's commitment to academic excellence was put to the test during a two-day validation visit (October 14-15, 2024). A team of evaluators from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) scrutinized academic offerings in relation to program compliance across the Sogod Main, San Juan, Tomas Oppus,3and Hinunangan campuses, while also assessing the university's scholarship administration.
According to Education Supervisor II Mr. Jan Paolo Vega, Southern Leyte State U achieved the highest level of compliance in SAS monitoring among all regional SUCs. The university was further praised for its outstanding library.
The validation visit culminated in a resounding victory for Southern Leyte State University. Dr. Catherine Iglesias, OIC Supervising Education Program Specialist, announced that the Commission on Higher Education Region VIII (CHED RO8) has recommended a remarkable 13 academic programs for the prestigious Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC). This recognition is a testament to the university's unwavering pursuit of academic excellence and its unceasing dedication to providing its students with a world-class education.
Southern Leyte State University President Dr. Jude A. Duarte expressed his gratitude to the Commission on Higher Education, under the leadership of Dr. Maximo Aljibe, for sending a team of experts to conduct the long-awaited validation visit for the coveted COPC. He acknowledged the tireless efforts of the university's faculty and staff, whose dedication and hard work have made this achievement possible. Dr. Duarte also urged those with outstanding compliance requirements to submit the necessary documentation promptly to expedite the process of receiving the COPC.
