CoE faculty members undergo ASEAN Engineering Registry Application orientation
Licensed engineers and faculty members from the Southern Leyte State University’s (SLSU) College of Engineering (CoE) participated in the online ASEAN Engineering Registry (AER) Application orientation on November 25, 2020. The orientation was conducted by the CoE to provide information on the application process and to guide the participants on how to effectively submit applications for AER.
The activity aimed to help the participants understand the concept of global recognition of qualification in engineering practice and to identify the qualification requirements in applying for AER. Some basic information and skills were taught orientation, such as the processes involved during the application and filling out the AER Application form.
AER was established in 1998 to spearhead the mobility of engineers within ASEAN. This is in line with the ASEAN Secretarial Program for the liberalization of professional services within ASEAN to prepare for globalization under the World Trade Organization (WTO) initiative. AER was formed by the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations (AFEO), a non-governmental body whose members are the national institutions and organizations of engineers of ASEAN countries.
