SLSU TO Laboratory High School Students Excel at Math Olympiad 2024
Students from the SLSU TO Laboratory High School showcased their mathematical abilities at the recently concluded Math Olympiad 2024 held at Tomas Oppus Central School. The event, organized by the District of Tomas Oppus, took place on October 15 brought together young mathematicians from various schools in the district.
Emelito A. Escolano, TOCS Principal, delivered an inspiring welcome talk which encouraged all participants to strive for excellence. Following the preliminaries, students were presented, and the mechanics of the competition were explained. The contest included two main events: the Math Quiz and DAMATH, where students demonstrated their problem-solving skills and mathematical reasoning.
The competition proved to be a significant success for the SLSU TO Laboratory High School students, who excelled in their respective levels:
Grade 7: Xian Yuhri Malatamban - 2nd place
Grade 8: Shiervy Nicole Mooney - 2nd place
Grade 9: Vien Triexie Gamohay - 2nd place
Grade 10: Earl Matthew Corpin - 3rd place
The event concluded with the awarding of winners, closing remarks, and an announcement of future endeavors.
Coaches Rolino G. Alvarez and Collen Antonette Cabahug praised the students for their dedication and hard work leading up to the competition. The SLSU Laboratory High School's impressive performance at the Math Olympiad reflects the school's strong emphasis on academic excellence and the nurturing of young talents in mathematics.
