Gandilan Awards 2024: SLSU MCC Honors Exemplary Faculty and Staff
Southern Leyte State University – Maasin City Campus (SLSU-MCC) celebrated its first-ever Gandilan Awards on October 10, 2024 honoring exceptional faculty and staff members for their significant contributions to the institution.
Campus Director Dr. Frederick C. Aniga opened the event with a heartfelt welcome message, infusing the gathering with warmth and positivity. His words resonated deeply, reminding everyone of the importance of community and collaboration within the educational environment. Following his remarks, Dr. Jude A. Duarte, University President, delivered an inspiring speech emphasizing perseverance and dedication, which served as a motivating force throughout the evening.
Following lively performances, the much-anticipated awards ceremony took center stage, individually recognizing the awardees.
One of the honors, the Pearly White Award, was presented to Ms. Aurora C. Abadiano, Mr. Jomil B. Aguelo, Mr. Alberto S. Alico, Mr. Renante Artigo, Mr. Regie B. Bero, Ms. Mauriz Claire Borres, Mr. Rodel S. Cabilao, Mr. Rogelio R. Cabug-os, Ms. Maristela M. Cardoza, Ms. Miguela M. Cawaling, Mr. Florito K. Cortel, Ms. Zendra B. Dayola, Ms. Geralissa D. Geraldo, Mr. Wendell G. Layola, Ms. Rachel M. Leyson, Mr. Alejo A. Lorsano, Mr. Reynante A. Lorzano, Mr. Leopoldo C. Mitaran, Ms. Marichu D. Rom, Ms. Mariella T. Romariz, Mr. Nicko M. The ceremony also recognized the Face Lifter Award, which celebrates individuals who have positively transformed their environment through creativity and innovation. Notable awardees included Mr. James Michael P. Amrinto, Ms. Renalain Bagtasus, Ms. Irene Carbonilla, Dr. Michael Malachy Dagami, Ms. Josecca B. Dumalag, Mr. Aris Rex D. Espinas, Ms. Maria Dulce S. Gonzalez, Ms. Karina G. Gutierrez, Ms. Junelen G. Inting, Ms. Doris G. Javier, Ms. Gloreina M. Mercado, Ms. Jahara D. Napalla, Mr. Kristopher Rex B. Oraiz, Ms. Irish Ann C. Padilla, Dr. Jonathan J. Palco, Ms. Mariecar R. Paloma, Ms.Norbella J. Roxas, Dr. Magdaleno T. Samaco, Jr., Mr. Rannie M. Sumacot, Ms. Juvenal F. Sumaya, and Ms. Salvacion S. Teng. The Mountain Mover Award, reserved for those who show remarkable perseverance and leadership, honored individuals such as Dr. Lucia Estella Grace A. Abaa, Mr. Conrad Owyn Novh Y. Mercado, Ms Gloreina M. Mercado, Ms. Elmee Joy D. Oraiz, Dr. Jonathan J. Palco, Ms. Maria Risa Jean C. Pasculado, Mr. Gilbert Pavo, Ms. Aster Lynn P. Reoma, Dr. Magdaleno T. Samaco Jr., Mr. Nicko M. Salaza, Ms. Juvenal F. Sumaya and Mr. Robin Ariel F. Sumaya. Their relentless drive and ability to overcome obstacles have made a significant impact, inspiring those around them to strive for greater achievements.
Finally, the Cliff Jumper Award, which recognizes bold risk-takers, featured awardees includes Mr. Conrad Owyn Novh Mercado, Dr. Jonathan J. Palco, Dr. Magdaleno Samaco, Jr., Ms. Juvenal F. Sumaya, Mr. Robin Ariel F. Sumaya and Mr. Florito K. Cortel. Faculty and staff were recognized for their exceptional contributions, with each awardee celebrated for their commitment to excellence in education and service.
