Municipality of Padre Burgos taps SLSU Faculty Members as consultants
The College of Governance and Development Studies has extended its expertise and technical assistance to the Municipality of Padre Burgos through the activity titled "Strengthening Good Governance and Sustainable Development through the Codification of Local Ordinances." This activity occurred from May 7 to 9, 2024, at Cebu Hotel Plus, Cebu City.
The three-day event, attended by key officials and department heads, provided a platform for the deliberation, harmonization, and codification of local ordinances enacted by the municipality. The codification process organizes, arranges, and consolidates all local ordinances into a single, unified code. This involves reviewing existing laws, eliminating duplicative or conflicting provisions, and reorganizing the content for clarity and coherence.
By streamlining access to local laws, the initiative aims to facilitate ease and convenience for officials, residents, and businesses in understanding their community's regulations. The activity is seen as crucial for revitalizing local economies, ensuring that the reconfiguration and codification of local laws enable community members to enjoy socio-economic and political liberties fully.
