Southern Leyte State University Visits China for Hunan-ASEAN-Germany Conference; Links Up Globally

From April 8-11, 2025, Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) raised its international visibility and partnership during its active participation in the Hunan-ASEAN-Germany Conference on Industry-Education Integration Empowering the Development of New Quality Productivity held in Changsha City, Hunan Province, China. Dr. Constantino G. Medilo, Jr., the Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Ingrid M. Uy, Director for External Linkages and International Affairs, represented SLSU.
A highlight of the university's participation was the official signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Sino-German (Hunan) Intelligent Manufacturing Innovation Center on April 10, 2025. Dr. Medilo also delivered a profile presentation of Southern Leyte State University to university leaders, policy-makers, and industry experts from China, the ASEAN region, and Germany. Owing to the presentation, SLSU gained more international visibility, thus positioning the university as an emerging player in the sphere of international higher education and cross-border partnerships. Throughout the conference, Dr. Medilo and Dr. Uy took part in sessions on innovation and the industry-academe integration in preparing a future-ready workforce.
Further strengthening SLSU’s linkages with industry, continues to explore international and industry-academe linkages as Dr. Constantino G. Medilo, Jr. and Dr. Ingrid M. Uy visit two of Changsha’s industrial powerhouses—Zoomlion, one of China’s largest construction machinery manufacturers, and BASF Shanshan Battery Materials, a leading supplier of high-performance, sustainable, and innovative battery components for e-vehicles. These prominent companies in smart manufacturing and battery technology not only highlighted China's contemporary industrial landscape but also put future opportunities for joint learn-academy-industry partnerships into perspective.
As the university continues to offer a fast-track alternative for harnessing transformative opportunities for our learners and educators, SLSU remains committed to partnering with global institutions, industry leaders, and innovation hubs that share the same vision for future-ready education and sustainable development.
