SLSU conducts Orientation Seminar, On-boarding for new SLSU employees
An Orientation Seminar & Onboarding of Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) Main (Sogod) Campus Employees was conducted on November 18, 2020, at the Plenary Hall, SLSU Main Campus, Sogod, Southern Leyte. A total of twenty-nine (29) new employees participated in the said event.
The participants on the Orientation Seminar & Onboarding include eight (8) administrative staff, seven (7) faculty members from the Department of Computer Engineering (DCE), four (4) from the College of Computer Studies and Information Technology (CCSIT), three (3) from the Institute of Arts and Sciences (IAS), two (2) from the Department of Industrial Technology (DIT), and one (1) participant each from the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM), College of Criminal Justice (CCJ), Center for Organic and Natural Food Research (CONFOR), and Department of Food Science and Technology (DFoST).
This program helps the employees understand their assigned duties, terms, and conditions of employment as well as the organizational culture. It provides the assigned duties and responsibilities documented in a position description standard, employment terms, and conditions which include the Oath of Office, understanding the policies related to human resource and development, staffing, labor relations, compensation and classification, and health benefits, payroll, and benefit deductions. It also introduced the people in the work unit and other key stakeholders.
The activity is to ensure that employees become integrated into the organization and their jobs as efficiently, effectively, and quickly as possible.
SLSU President, Dr. Prose Ivy G. Yepes, said in her inspirational message that ‘being in this family requires us to serve with excellence, and possess the essential competencies in leading the organization, oneself, and others’.
“As we join in this organization, we are enjoined to promote a sense of ownership and belongingness, which all of us, both the officials and employees, should be accountable for service excellence and such improvement initiative,” she added.
The Orientation Seminar & Onboarding serves as a formal welcome of the new members of the SLSU family and to provide them with a broad overview of the university, its policies and work rules, duties and responsibilities, and benefits and privilege as SLSU employees and public servants.
SLSU is a Program to Institutionalize Meritocracy and Excellence in Human Resource Management (PRIME-HRM) Level II accredited by the Civil Service Commission (CSC). It is a mechanism that empowers government agencies by developing their human resource management competencies, systems, and practices toward HR excellence.
