CHED awards SLSU CARE’s project proposal for 2019 RECPE grants
The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) had chosen the Center for Access to Rural Education (CARE) of Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) to implement its Continuing Professional Education (CPE) program.
Spearheaded by Mr. Max Teody T. Quimilat, CARE Director, with Division Heads Hermabeth Bendulo, Mark Galdo and Erlinda Tibus,CARE’s project proposal entitled "Development of Bisaya Learning Materials for Mother Tongue-based Multilingual Language Education" has been awarded by CHED for the 2019 RECPE Grants. This is in line with CHED Memorandum Order No. 72, series of 2017, or “The Revised and Expanded Guidelines for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Grants Under the K to 12 Transition Program”.
The total approved grant amount for the project is ₱4,584,703.20 in order to conduct programs and courses geared towards the development of higher education.
The project aims to provide opportunities for research and extension to SLSU personnel to apply the knowledge and experiences gained through the activities to the improvement of curricula and programs. It also focuses on producing various research outputs and diffusion efforts in the hopes of transitioning to a more resilient higher education system.
The said project also focuses on improving language documentation studies, literature collection and documentation studies, and the development of mother tongue-based multilingual education learning materials.
CHED awarded CARE on March 10, 2020. Its physical office is situated at SLSU Tomas Oppus Campus.
