SLSU Strengthens Employee Healthcare Access Through YAKAP Orientation with PhilHealth and Local Partners
In cooperation with PhilHealth and YAKAP-accredited healthcare providers in Sogod, Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) conducted an Orientation on the Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP) for all SLSU employees at the Sogod Campus on February 11, 2026.
The activity began with a welcome message from Dr. Marie Khul C. Langub, Vice President for Student Engagement and Support Services, who emphasized the university administration’s strong commitment to promoting employees' health and wellness. She highlighted that, with the support of administrators, SLSU continues to prioritize initiatives that strengthen healthcare access and preventive services for its workforce.
Leading the orientation was Mr. Misael F. Paigan, PhilHealth Local Health Information Officer, who provided a comprehensive overview of the YAKAP Program and its objectives. He emphasized PhilHealth’s commitment to making primary healthcare services more accessible and affordable for its members.
Also present were YAKAP partner healthcare providers in Sogod who elaborated on the services covered under the program: Dr. Marc Florendo B. Mato, Municipal Health Officer of RHU Sogod; Dr. Aileen D. Alinsub of Consuelo . Tan Memorial Center; Dr. Catalino S. Jadoc from Blessed Hope Medical and Diagnostic Clinic; Dr. Kharen J. Jadloc of Havilah Polymedic; Dr. Andrew L. Corrompido of Corrompido Specialty Hospital.



The speakers discussed the benefits and enrollment process of the YAKAP Program, including medical consultations, laboratory services, essential medicines, health screening, and regular health monitoring. Particular attention was given to the GAMOT component and screening services available to eligible PhilHealth members.



The successful conduct of the orientation reflects SLSU’s continuing efforts to safeguard the welfare of its employees. Through strengthened collaboration with PhilHealth and local healthcare providers, the university reaffirms its commitment to fostering a culture of health, wellness, and preventive care within the SLSU community.
