SLSU Bontoc Faculty Leads Dairy Production and Water Buffalo Management Workshop in Bohol
Assistant Professor June D. Dadios, a dedicated SLSU Bontoc Campus faculty member, successfully delivered a two-day Dairy Production and Management Seminar and Workshop on Water Buffalo held at Clarin, Bohol on August 21-22, 2024.
The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Clarin, Bohol through Municipal Agriculturist Mr. Jay Marc T. Sotto invited Asst. Prof. Dadios lead a workshop seminar for local water buffalo raisers. This activity aims to encourage water buffalo raisers and farmers to explore dairy production and eventually contribute to Bohol’s growing dairy industry.
Asst. Prof. Dadios is a Doctor of Philosophy specializing in Animal Science and an accredited consultant for DOST VIII Agricultural Production shared his expertise on dairy buffalo production and management systems on Day 1 then followed by a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the farmers to further explore the topic on the second day.
“By implementing improved farming techniques and ensuring the well-being of our dairy buffalo through upgrading native species, proper nutrition, and management, we can significantly enhance the profitability of dairy farming. This approach not only aims to increase the yield and quality of dairy products but also contributes to the overall growth and development of Bohol’s dairy industry. Through these efforts, we can establish a more sustainable and economically viable dairy sector that benefits local farmers and supports the region’s agricultural economy,” Dadios said.
Seventeen (17) farmers from the Tubod Multipurpose Cooperative and two (2) personnel from the Municipal Agriculture Office in Clarin, Bohol, attended the two-day workshop.
This workshop seminar also aligns with the Philippine Development Plans (2023-2024) which aims to carry out and boost interventions to the grassroots communities to ensure maximum agricultural productivity and competitiveness.
“Southern Leyte State University – Bontoc Campus, as a developing and dynamic institution, is deeply committed to advancing sustainable farming practices.
