SLSU qualifies for ISO 9001:2015 QMS recertification
The Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) is qualified for ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) recertification as announced by its certifying body audit, SOCOTEC Certification Philippines, during the closing meeting on Wednesday, March 21, 2021.
The 3-day virtual audit includes all processes across the six campuses of the university.
It was the first audit for the five external campuses. SLSU Main Campus, however, was certified in December 2018. SLSU was also one of the first state universities and colleges in the region to be certified with ISO 9001:2008 in 2016.
In her closing message, SLSU President Dr. Prose Ivy G. Yepes expressed her gratitude to everyone who was part of the success of the activity.
“I am happy that the 5 external campuses of the university joined the main campus in this endeavor to ensure the quality, safety, and efficiency of the services and systems we offer to our clients and stakeholders. Likewise, I am glad and proud of everyone for the effort you put in for the success of this 3-day activity. Whether small or big contributions, accept my heartfelt gratitude.” Yepes said.
SLSU aims to enrich the university academic community’s understanding and appreciation of principles and requirements of ISO 9001:2015 QMS; develop the capabilities of key officers and staff in preparing for and sustaining the ISO 9001:2015 certification, and prepare the documentation and implementation requirements for the certification of QMS and for maintaining and sustaining the already established QMS.
Implementing IS0 9001:2015 QMS is in adherence to Administrative Order No. 161 entitled “Institutionalizing Quality Management System in Government” as amended by Executive Order No. 605 “encouraging Local Government Units (LGUs), State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), the Judiciary, the Legislature and the Constitutional offices to establish ISO Quality Management Systems and pursue certification.”
