SLSU-TO Interns Conclude Transformative Teaching Journey in Vietnam
Southern Leyte State University–Tomas Oppus (SLSU-TO), in partnership with Tra Vinh University (TVU), holds a Teaching Internship Culmination Program at TVU on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, to honor the achievements and experiences of the student interns deployed in Vietnam.

The event brings together faculty members, cooperating teachers, institutional representatives, and interns assigned at the International Education Institute (IEI), Victory Informatics and Foreign Language Center (VIFL), and the Gifted School.
In her welcome remarks, Dr. Leslie Elisa Cobilla, supervisor of SIAP Batch 6 of SLSU-TO, expresses pride in the interns for completing their international teaching internship.
“Seeing our student interns grow into confident and passionate educators has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey,” Dr. Cobilla says.

During the program, the interns reflect on their teaching experiences, highlighting the professional growth, cultural immersion, and meaningful relationships they are developing throughout their stay in Vietnam.
Faculty members and representatives from partner institutions also commend the interns for their dedication, adaptability, and positive contributions inside the classroom and within the academic community.
In his message, VIFL Vice Director Mr. Nhan Minh Phuc emphasizes that the interns are more than student teachers during their time in Vietnam.
“You did not come here simply as interns. You became part of our family, and your passion for teaching inspired both our students and teachers,” Mr. Phuc says.
The culmination program also features cultural and musical performances by the SLSU-TO interns, including a Balitaw presentation and a group musical number that showcases Filipino talent and heritage.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Nguyen Huy Thong, Deputy Director of the International Education Institute, underscores the importance of international collaboration in education and expresses gratitude to all participating institutions.
“This internship was not only meaningful for the students, but also for us. We learned from one another, built genuine connections, and for that, we are truly grateful,” Dr. Thong says.
The program formally concludes the interns’ teaching deployment in Vietnam, marking the culmination of months of classroom engagement, cultural exchange, and academic collaboration between Vietnamese and Filipino partner institutions.
Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education, the internship program strengthens global learning opportunities, cross-cultural understanding, and international academic cooperation.
