Students Shine in Dibuho Media Festival 2024

The Dibuho Media Festival, held on May 20, 2024, at the Learning Commons Theater, marked a significant showcase of creativity and innovation. Hosted by the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, the event spotlighted the impressive achievements of students enrolled in Reading Visual Arts, celebrating their academic journey and artistic prowess.
The festival commenced with an opening ceremony at 10:00 AM, led by Dr. Flordeliza Vitor, Language Area Chair, emphasizing the critical role of visual literacy in today's media landscape. Attended by students and guests alike, the ceremony set the stage for a day dedicated to visual storytelling.
A focal point of the festival was the screening of short documentary films produced by students. These films, the culmination of months of research and creative endeavor, offered diverse perspectives on the intersection of Science and culture. Each documentary captivated the audience with its unique narrative and visual style.
Highlighting the event were awards presented to outstanding student filmmakers. Categories such as Best Documentary, Best Cinematography, and Best Editing recognized excellence in storytelling and technical skill. "Binurong Pag-asa" received the prestigious Best Documentary award for its compelling portrayal of Science and culture in the traditional production of coconut wine, locally known as tuba.
The Dibuho Media Festival not only celebrated academic achievement but also fostered community engagement, uniting university members and the public in the appreciation of the power of visual storytelling. The documentaries showcased the student's ability to tackle complex subjects with creativity and insight.
