SLSU Faculty heads to Vietnam; joins global talks on sustainable education

Faculty members from Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) arrive in Vietnam for the Conference on Education and Training for Sustainability 2025 (CETS 2025) at Tra Vinh University, running from March 13-17, 2025, to engage in international discussions on sustainable education and academic collaboration.
Said CETS 2025 focuses on advancing sustainable education, particularly in Vietnam and the Southeast Asian region. This year, SLSU is not just attending but co-hosting the event alongside Tra Vinh University (TVU), giving it a platform to exchange ideas, share best practices, and learn from other institutions dedicated to education for sustainability.
During the event, Dr. Mark Galdo will serve as a plenary speaker, while Dr. Clemente Cobilla, Dr. Violeta Felisilda, and Dr. Marvin Daguplo will take on roles as session chairs and research presenters. Meanwhile, other faculty members—Dr. Marie Khul Langub, Dr. Joey Caraquil, Dr. Stella Maris Consul, Dr. Pritzel Lee Capili, and Mr. Jayson Orais—will also present their research findings to an international audience.
“With experts presenting their research, the conference will introduce new concepts, solutions, and models in education for sustainability to the participants. At the same time, SLSU can gain insights and knowledge that can be integrated into the conduct of research and the curriculum," Mr. Orais shared in an exclusive interview.
"SLSU, together with the other universities from Southeast Asia, can contribute to shaping educational policies and addressing regional problems,” he added.
The conference aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by encouraging academic exchange and collaboration. By taking part in CETS 2025, SLSU strengthens its global presence, builds international connections, and contributes to ongoing discussions on how education can drive sustainable development.
