SLSU Faculty Publish Scopus-Indexed Research on Renewable Energy in Rural Areas
Rogen A. Cagorol and Melvin S. Sarsale present their bibliometric study titled “Scientific Mapping of Renewable Energy in Rural Areas: A Bibliometric Analysis,” appears in the Journal of Renewable Energy and Smart Grid Technology
Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) proudly announces the publication of a Scopus-indexed research article authored by Rogen A. Cagorol and Melvin S. Sarsale. Their study, titled “Scientific Mapping of Renewable Energy in Rural Areas: A Bibliometric Analysis,” appears in the Journal of Renewable Energy and Smart Grid Technology (Vol. 20, No. 1, January–June 2025).
The paper analyzes more than 3,300 research publications from 1979 to 2025, using Scopus data and visualization tools like VOSviewer and Biblioshiny. The study identifies major research trends, with India, China, and the United States leading in publication output, alongside growing contributions from Europe and Southeast Asia.
Highlighted in the analysis are key research clusters including climate change and biomass, solar and hybrid energy systems, and rural energy access and electrification. The study also identifies emerging areas such as IoT-enabled microgrids, hybrid systems, and energy modeling, supporting global efforts toward Sustainable Development Goals 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and 13 (Climate Action).
SLSU commends Prof. Cagorol and Prof. Sarsale for this international achievement and their continued contribution to advancing renewable energy research for rural development.
