Method of Grafting of Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum) to Eggplant (Solanum melongena) rootstock
The process of grafting tomato to eggplant rootstock comprising the steps of planting an eggplant (Mestiza variety) seeds using individual pots one week before planting a tomato (Diamante variety) seeds; planting said tomato seeds using cellular trays; letting the said tomato seeds and eggplant seeds grow until 2-3 true leaves develops, and it will be called as a tomato seedlings and an eggplant seedling; splice-cutting the said eggplant seedling as rootstock (1) and tomato seedling as scion (2) above the cotyledon at about 30 degrees angle; joining said tomato scion and eggplant rootstock using 1.5 cm x 1.5 cm tin foil (3); placing said joined tomato and eggplant seedlings inside a shaded closed plastic chamber; opening said closed plastic chamber after 4 to 5 days from joining; removing said joined seedlings from said closed plastic chamber; placing the said joined seedlings inside a screen house for 1 week; planting said joined seedlings on polyethylene pots; and applying foliar fertilizer after 9 days of grafting.
