SLSU Launches Journal of Educational and Human Resource Development
Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) officially launched its teacher-education journal, the Journal of Educational and Human Resource Development (JEHRD) on August 8, 2014 at the SLSU Administration Building lobby. JEHRD first saw print in early in the year in 2014 and is rated a Category B journal by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
In attendance to the launch were over fifty people composed of journal authors, RDE directors, department heads, research and extension coordinators, administrative staff, and campus administrators. Also present was Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Balik-Scientist Alejandro Tongco.
In a short speech, Vice President for Research Development and Extension Prose Ivy Yepes traced the beginnings of JEHRD to a meeting with former CHED Commissioner Dr. Roberto Padua and other state universities committed to producing a peer-reviewed journal.
Before the publication of JEHRD, SLSU also published the RDE Journal from 2006 to 2009. Publication of the RDE Journal suffered a lull from 2010 to 2013. This took an about-face in 2014 with the creation of the Journal of Educational and Human Resource Development.
In October 2014, SLSU submitted the second issue of JEHRD for accreditation by CHED, and the first issue of its technical journal, the the Journal of Science, Engineering and Technology (JSET).
