SLSU - Tomas Oppus among Partners of Tomas Oppus Community; Extend Aid to Northern Cebu Earthquake Victims

The people of Tomas Oppus, Southern Leyte, in partnership with Southern Leyte State University–Tomas Oppus Campus (SLSU-TO), the Metro Cebu Eagles Club, and the Central Visayas Regional Management Office (CVRMO), came together to extend a helping hand to communities severely affected by the recent 6.9 magnitude earthquake that struck Northern Cebu. The relief operation, conducted through Tabang ni Tomas 7.0 initiated by SLSU-TO, took place on October 8, 2025.
The joint relief effort aimed to provide immediate support to families who lost their homes and livelihoods due to the powerful quake, one of the strongest to hit Cebu in recent years. Officials and representatives from the partner organizations personally visited the affected areas to distribute food packs, bottled water, and other essential supplies to the victims.
This initiative was made possible through the solidarity and generosity of the people of Tomas Oppus and the support of various donors who responded swiftly to the call for help. This reflects the spirit of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, promoting resilience and solidarity in times of disaster.
