SLSU-TO Hosts Workshop on Content Development

The Southern Leyte State University-Tomas Oppus Campus (SLSU TO) trained its faculty and staff in content production during the Seminar Workshop on Effective Content Development and Engagement, held on December 3, 2025. The event aimed to enhance the quality of university communication by providing participants with practical skills for producing clearer, more strategic, and more compelling content.

The program began with a message from Mr. Jayson E. Orais, MAEd, PASCom Coordinator. He then led two main sessions titled “University Communication, Branding, and Audience Engagement: PASCom Standards and Style Guidelines” and “Bringing Stories to Life through Feature Writing.” These sessions stressed the importance of creating content that is purposeful and centered around the audience.

In the afternoon, faculty members from the English Education Program also joined as resource speakers. Mr. Joseph M. Añavesa, MAEd, conducted the workshop “Writing the News: Essentials of News Writing and Headlining.” He guided participants in crafting accurate and engaging news stories. After that, Mr. Isaiah Caesar G. Escolano, LPT, led the session “The Editor’s Eye: Mastering the Art of Copyreading.” He taught participants techniques to improve clarity, spot errors, and refine their written work.

Throughout the day, attendees engaged in collaborative writing activities, editing exercises, and hands-on tasks that let them apply each topic right away. This activity marked an important step toward raising the communication standards of the campus. PASCom expressed its commitment to providing more initiatives that support content development in line with SDG 4: Quality Education.
