CHED Monitoring and Evaluation validates SLSU’s pursuit of academic excellence

Southern Leyte State University successfully concluded a comprehensive two-day Monitoring and Evaluation conducted by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) on July 15–16, 2026, reinforcing the university’s commitment to maintaining high standards of academic quality, institutional effectiveness, and student-centered education.

The evaluation brought CHED representatives to the SLSU-Sogod Campus and the SLSU-Liloan Extension Classes for an extensive assessment of the university’s academic programs, governance systems, facilities, instructional resources, and support services. The activity forms part of CHED’s continuing efforts to ensure that higher education institutions remain responsive to national development goals and evolving educational demands.

The first day of the evaluation was held at the SLSU-Sogod Campus, where university officials, faculty members, and program heads presented evidence of program outcomes, academic innovations, and quality assurance initiatives. The evaluation team conducted a thorough review of institutional documents and operational processes, examining how the university translates its vision and strategic goals into meaningful educational experiences for learners.

On the second day, the CHED team proceeded to the SLSU-Liloan Extension Classes, where the assessment highlighted the university’s expanding role in bringing quality higher education closer to communities. The visit also showcased the strong partnership between SLSU and the Local Government Unit of Liloan in advancing educational access and opportunities for local students.

The closing program featured the presentation of findings and recommendations from the CHED evaluators, providing valuable insights that will further strengthen the university’s academic programs and institutional development initiatives. The evaluation recognized SLSU’s sustained efforts toward compliance, continuous improvement, and educational innovation, reflecting a culture of excellence that extends across its campuses and extension classes.

The successful completion of the monitoring and evaluation underscores SLSU’s readiness to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving higher education landscape while remaining anchored in its mission of serving communities through transformative education. More than a measure of compliance, the evaluation affirmed the university’s continuing pursuit of excellence, accountability, and relevance in delivering quality higher education throughout Southern Leyte and beyond.
