SLSU Main Campus Partners with Liga ng mga Barangay-Bontoc for SLSU CARES Extension Project
Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) Main Campus formally strengthens its partnership with the Liga ng mga Barangay-Bontoc through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement for the implementation of the SLSU CARES: Community Action for Resilience, Empowerment, and Sustainability extension project.

The ceremonial MOA signing is held on May 14, 2026, at the SB Session Hall in Bontoc, Southern Leyte. Present during the event are barangay captains of Bontoc headed by Liga President Hon. Gregorio Y. Felicilda. Also in attendance are Municipal Local Government Operations Officer-Bontoc Imelda A. Jarabe, Engr. Jonelle H. Tablada, Director for Extension and Community Outreach Services, Engr. Marvi D. Gantala, and activity leaders Dr. Josefina O. Carpentero and Dr. Denis E. Torino.
During the program, Engr. Tablada presents an overview of the SLSU CARES extension project, highlighting its objectives, priority activities, and expected impact on partner communities.
Hon. Felicilda delivers his words of commitment, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the university and local communities in promoting responsive and sustainable development initiatives.

Dr. Carpentero and Dr. Torino convey their messages of support and gratitude, underscoring the value of community-centered extension programs in fostering resilience, empowerment, and sustainable growth.
Municipal Local Government Operations Officer Imelda A. Jarabe, LGOO VI, likewise expresses her support for the partnership and encourages continued cooperation among stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the project.

Through this partnership, SLSU and the Liga ng mga Barangay-Bontoc aim to strengthen community participation, enhance local capacities, and promote inclusive and sustainable development across the municipality.
The initiative supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education; SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities; SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
