SLSU Strengthens Global Presence at the 2026 International Physical Education Convention

Selected Physical Education faculty members from across the six campuses of Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) showcase academic excellence and professional leadership at the 2026 International Physical Education Convention, held from May 5–9 in Davao City. The event, hosted by the University of Southeastern Philippines and Lyceum of the Philippines University Davao, gathers educators, researchers, and practitioners from across the country and beyond. Representing SLSU are Mr. Archelis V. Serano and Dr. Synamar P. Yuag from the Main Campus; Mr. King Valds Anthony A. Berame and Ms. Airalyn Q. Hinay from the Tomas Oppus Campus; Ms. Nova Marie O. Maranguit from the Hinunangan Campus; and Ms. Shiela Mae Llorca from the San Juan Campus.

A key highlight of SLSU’s participation is the presentation of four research studies that reflect the University’s growing contribution to physical education, sports science, and cultural preservation. Mr. Archelis V. Serano presents “Antecedents and Consequences of Trust in Coach-Athlete Relationship: A Sequential Explanatory Mixed Method.” Dr. Synamar P. Yuag presents “Bodily–Kinesthetic Capacities of College Students and Courses Taken: Proposed Instructional Plan.” Mr. King Valds Anthony A. Berame presents “Documenting Balibol Binaryo: A Traditional Sport and Cultural Practice.” Ms. Airalyn Q. Hinay presents “Tinubdan Festival: A Proposed Dance Literature and Instructional Video Material.”

These presentations highlight not only the academic rigor of the SLSU faculty but also the University’s commitment to contextualized and culturally responsive education. By integrating research, tradition, and innovation, the delegates underscore the role of physical education as both a scientific discipline and a platform for cultural expression.

Participation in international conventions such as this reaffirms SLSU’s dedication to professional development, research excellence, and global engagement. It also strengthens institutional collaboration and promotes continuous improvement in teaching and learning across its campuses.

As SLSU continues to expand its academic and research footprint, the achievements of its Physical Education faculty stand as a testament to the University’s pursuit of excellence grounded in community, driven by innovation, and aligned with global standards.
