Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) continues its remarkable ascent in the global academic arena as it clinches the 53rd spot in the 2026 World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI).
The results, unveiled during the 6th Annual Conference of the Hanseatic League of Universities at National Chi-Nan University held from May 6–8, 2026, mark a historic milestone for the institution. This achievement represents a steady and significant climb for SLSU, which moved from 226th globally in 2024 to 78th in 2025, and now stands comfortably within the top 60 worldwide. Furthermore, these results distinguish SLSU as the 4th highest-ranking Philippine university in this year’s global evaluation.
The university’s record-breaking performance is highlighted by exceptional placements in specific innovation categories, most notably securing the 2nd rank globally in both Cost-Effectiveness Management and University-Based Entrepreneurial Projects. The university further proves its dominance by breaking into the global top ten for Ethics and Integrity at Rank 8, followed closely by an elite Rank 11 for University Brand and Reputation and Rank 15 for Culture and Values. This powerhouse performance continues across the board, with SLSU outclassing international peers to secure Rank 17 for Representative Research Projects, Rank 22 for both Student Support and SDG Responses, and Rank 23 for Sustainability Funding. Even in the cutting-edge frontier of AI-Based Teaching and Learning, SLSU proves its future-ready caliber with a formidable Rank 26.
Rounding out its comprehensive performance, the university also continues to redefine excellence by placing prominently in Future-Oriented Global Responses (Rank 32), Inclusive Social Innovation (Rank 35), and Empowerment-Based Management (Rank 41), while maintaining a steady grip on Infrastructure and Technology (Rank 42), Crisis Management (Rank 62), and Student Mobility (Rank 71).
