Southern Leyte State University Bids Student Interns International Success in Official Send-Off
Attended by key officials of the Tomas Oppus Campus, among those is Dr. Clemente H. Cobilla, Campus Director and Dr. Norlyn L. Borong, Dean of Faculty of Teacher Education, Program Heads of FTE, Dr. Leslie Elisa S. Cobilla, SIAP Student Teachers Supervisor; as well as attended by Dr. Jude Duarte, University President, Dr. Marie Khul C. Langub, Vice President for Student Engagement and Support Services and Dr. Ingrid Uy, Director for External Linkages and International Affairs.
Dr. Borong gave a warm meaningful welcome message to the participants involved, setting a tone for the milestone event the Student Interns will now embark.
Dr. Duarte gave an inspiring message of support to the student interns, "Always remember that you are bringing with you the badge of our dear SLSU, to be the best on what you can be," he stated, reminding the interns bound for abroad and other places that they carry the SLSU banner with them. He also said to the interns that the experience is meant to help them recalibrate their skills, values, and perspectives, shaping them into quality teachers who are ready to serve with competence and purpose and by remaining open to new experiences, cultures, and teaching approaches, they will return home not only more equipped professionally, but also more mature and enriched as individuals.
Dr. Langub also gave a message of support saying, "This is the beginning of stepping out from the university, This is a personal growth as well, so make this opportunity meaningful, make this opportunity worthwhile." Highlighting that personal growth comes by stepping out of the institution and immerse in new learnings beyond the university.
The student interns also gave a message of commitment, each pledging their dedication to learning, cultural exchange, growth, and opportunities as they will be sent off to institutions abroad and domestically.
It was formally ended by the closing remarks of Dr. Cobilla, Campus Director of Tomas Oppus, stating "This is the beginning of engagement of SLSU-TO, a lot more to come with respect to internationalization," he highlighted that he shares prospects of the Tomas Oppus' campus internationalizations goals in abroad and domestic, sharing that this is not the only student interns they will be deploying but they will also send off other student interns from different programs as well.
These batch of student interns will be deployed to Tra Vinh University in Vietnam and Cambridge Center for International Studies in Tacloban City. This is the 6th batch and 2nd batch respectively to be deployed by the University to partner schools, fostering academic growth and partnerships.
