Phase 1 Construction of Apartelle de SLSU Set to Begin January 2026

This development was confirmed during a courtesy call meeting held on January 8, 2026, at the Southern Leyte State University – Main Campus. The meeting was attended by Dr. Jude A. Duarte, University President, other key university officials, representatives of the contractor, and officials from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office No. VIII.
 
The project will be implemented by the DPWH in accordance with the Special Provisions of the Fiscal Year 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA), or Republic Act No. 11975, which mandates that the DPWH shall implement infrastructure projects of State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) with a total project cost exceeding Five Million Pesos (₱5,000,000.00).
 
Once completed, the Apartelle de SLSU will serve as a vital learning facility for hospitality and tourism students by providing hands-on, industry-relevant training. At the same time, the facility will be strategically utilized by the University as a revenue-generating asset, reinforcing SLSU’s commitment to academic excellence, experiential learning, and institutional sustainability.
