PIT Benchmarks SLSU’s Income-Generating Projects

The Southern Leyte State University (SLSU), through its Business Affairs and Resource Generation Office (BARGO), warmly welcomed the delegation from Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT) for a benchmarking activity held on September 30, 2025, at the SLSU Boardroom.

The benchmarking activity aimed to share best practices and strengthen institutional collaboration, focusing on the following areas identified by PIT: Existing Income-Generating Projects (IGPs), student entrepreneurial initiatives, extension office projects, and the operations manual.

Engr. Cris Vincent L. Ranque, Director of BARGO, led the presentation on SLSU’s existing income-generating projects, providing an overview of ongoing initiatives and their contributions to the university’s financial sustainability and student development.

It was followed by Dr. Adelfa Diola, Director of Extension Services, who presented the university’s Extension and ConFor (Center for Organic and Natural Food Research) projects, highlighting community-based programs and partnerships that generate livelihood opportunities while supporting local development.

The session on Student Entrepreneurial Initiatives was then presented by Mr. Felmer Anonocop, President of the Supreme Student Council, showcasing student-led projects and innovative ventures that embody the entrepreneurial spirit fostered by the university.

The activity continued with discussions on the Operations Manual, where administrative officials provided insights on the processes and systems that guide the effective management of income-generating and extension projects. Mr. Leo A. Omamalin, Chief Administrative Officer-Admin (OIC), shared insights on administrative systems and procedures, followed by perspectives from Mr. Robin Ariel F. Sumaya, Budget Officer III, and Ms. Sharra Mae M. Gonzalez, Administrative Officer II, who provided valuable insights on the financial aspects.

An open forum allowed for a meaningful exchange of insights between SLSU and PIT participants, further strengthening collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Afterward, the PIT delegation was given a campus tour to visit SLSU’s income-generating project sites, including the ConFor, Garments, Food Court, Food Mart, BARGO Office, Printing Services, Cafeteria and Catering Services, Hotel de SLSU, and Venue Facilities for rental, which include the University Library Mini Theater, Plenary Hall, Hotel de SLSU Ballroom, and Multi-Purpose Court (MPC).

Through this engagement, SLSU has opened its doors to other partner SUCs in the region, committing to excellence, collaboration, and innovation in income-generating and entrepreneurial initiatives, which contribute to both institutional growth and community development.
