SLSU - MCC conduct Research Project Monitoring and Evaluation

The Southern Leyte State University - Maasin City Campus successfully conducted the Monitoring and Evaluation of Research and Innovation Proposals at the Campus Director's Conference Room on June 28, 2024. Five collaborative research projects were evaluated by Engr. Lelie Lou Bacalla from the Main Campus. These projects include:

- "Assessing the Employability of the Public Administration Graduates of SLSU, Maasin City Campus" by Inocencia Cañon, Jonathan Palco, Rannie Sumacot, and Aris Rex Espinas

- "Ready or Not: DRRM Awareness and Preparedness of Senior High School Teachers of Maasin City Division" by Jonathan Palco, Inocencia Cañon, Aris Rex Espinas, and James Michael Amrinto

- "Awareness and Acceptability of Southern Leyte State University’s Vision, Mission, and Breakthrough Goals" by Maria Dulce S. Gonzalez and Riza L. Lacerna

- "Best Practices Implemented and Challenges by the LGUs of Maasin and the Municipalities of Macrohon, Sogod, Libagon, and Liloan" by Junelen Inting, Michael Malachy Dagami, and Maria Risa Jean Pasculado

- "Assessment on the Competency of Barangay Secretary on Record Keeping, Reporting, and Office Management of the Selected Barangays of LGU-City of Maasin" by Salvacion S. Teng, Juvenal F. Sumaya, and Norbella J. Roxas.

During the activity, the evaluator asked participants about the challenges they encountered in their research papers. The researchers mentioned difficulties in gathering data and conducting pilot testing on their instruments. The evaluator reassured them, saying that the main campus has statisticians and grammarians available to assist them. Despite facing challenges and a busy schedule, the faculty members dedicated time to this activity. This is because it offers crucial technical assistance to faculty members, enabling them to advance their studies and serves as a platform for the exchange of ideas, fostering a culture of research and collaboration both within and beyond the campus.

The monitoring and evaluation of research and innovation supports several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Primarily, it contributes to : a) SDG 4: Quality Education – By analyzing the data and feedback collected during the monitoring and evaluation process, researchers and innovators can learn from their experiences and improve future projects. b) SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth - Monitoring and evaluating research and innovation projects related to job creation, entrepreneurship, and economic development can provide insights into the impact of innovation on economic growth and job opportunities; and c) SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure – monitoring and evaluating progress provide insights into the effectiveness of research and innovation initiatives in driving industrial growth.
