SLSU collabs with FCSIT, GIS Tech Center for Capacity Building Extension with LGU Bontoc

Southern Leyte State University through GIS Tech Center in collaboration with Faculty of Computer Studies and Information Technology, has successfully hosted a three-day extension program, "Building Resilience through Open Mapping Tools: A Capacity Building for DRRMO Personnel in Bontoc" last June 5th to 7th, 2024. This initiative aimed to empower personnel from LGU Bontoc by providing them with the necessary skills to utilize open mapping tools effectively for enhancing disaster risk reduction management.

The activity commenced with a message from Dr. Czarina Ancella G. Gabi, the Dean of FCSIT, followed by words of commitment from LGU Bontoc, expressed by Engr. Edmund B. Moralde. Subsequently, the training sessions commenced promptly after the opening program. Throughout the event, participants engaged in hands-on learning sessions, workshops, and discussions facilitated by experts and faculty of GIS Tech Center and FCSIT.

The program concluded with the distribution of certificates to the participants, acknowledging their successful completion of the training and a message from Dr. Angel T. Sabusap, the Director of Extension Services, highlighting the significance of the training in disaster risk reduction management within the community and plans for more future endeavors with LGU Bontoc.
