Cybersecurity Awareness and eGov PH Orientation Empowers University Staff

On June 25, 2025, Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) hosted a Cybersecurity Awareness and Orientation on eGov PH Platforms held at the Library Mini-Theater, Sogod Campus, in partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). The event was attended by the administrative staff from Sogod, Bontoc, and Tomas Oppus campuses. This initiative was spearheaded by the Office of the President and the University Information Systems and Analytics Office to promote safer digital practices and introduce DICT’s eGov PH app to its administrative staff.

The program began with a warm welcome from Dr. Marie Khul C. Langub, Vice-President for Student Auxiliary Services, followed by a clear statement of purpose delivered by Engr. Samuel D. Tomaub, Information Security and Assurance Head. The training featured in-depth sessions led by experts from DICT, including Mr. Cosme T. Socito Jr., Engr. Jeanelyn Cabulong Vinegas, and Mr. Daniel C. Ecarma. Topics covered included cybersecurity fundamentals, the use and benefits of the eGov PH platform, and an orientation on the Philippine National Public Key Infrastructure (PNPKI) for secure digital transactions.

This timely orientation aimed to equip university personnel with the knowledge and tools to protect institutional data and streamline government-related processes. By embracing secure digital platforms, the university takes a step forward in aligning with the national goal of building a digitally empowered and resilient society. The event concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Constantino G. Medilo Jr., Vice President for Academic Affairs, reinforcing the university's commitment to digital transformation.
